Sierra Splendor - Mt Whitney, Lone Pine, California landscape oil painting - Eastern Sierra Nevadas

July 9th, 2009

Sierra Splendor
a view toward Mt. Whitney Portal from Lone Pine
18 x 24 oil on canvas
SOLD

Some time this fall we’re going to return to the area again for another painting and research trip. A new collector has tipped me off to some beautiful painting spots in the area - and it’s a trip I’m eagerly anticipating.

  1. I can understand that this painting continued to call to you after you sold it. Those mountains and sky are really compelling. If I just had a free wall…
    :)

Perhaps this means that you should keep it and love it, awhile. It just might continue to haunt you, otherwise.

  2. I agreed when I saw your last paintings of this area. Really arresting work, Karen…
