We went to the preview of "The Talking Cure" at the Mark Taper Forum (LA Music Center) - it's about the relationship between Jung and Freud and how Jung was inspired and influenced by his first patient, Sabina, a "hysterical" young woman. A very provocative drama that suggests that Jung derived a number of his concepts from his first analysand. I drew this sketch quickly during the second act. The handwriting is Freud's, which I slipped in for the fun of it when I scanned the drawing. The performances were excellent but I wonder about the authenticity of the story. It would be interesting to know how much of the dialogue was based upon notes and letters and how much was speculation.
